How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster
Making your hair grow faster is an interesting and challenging endeavor. Many people have invested time and money into products and vi
tamins to assist their hair in growing faster. Others have just given up and started wearing wigs. Still, the issue, "how to make your hair grow faster," has not really been answered to a satisfying degree.
On the other hand, we do know quite a bit about what causes hair loss. Studies have shown that rapid weight loss, aggressive combing or brushing and stress can cause hair loss. These issues would disrupt an attempt at studying how to make your hair grow faster. These issues should be addressed before attempting such a project.
The simple truth is that people still aren't certain how to make their hair grow faster. This lack of knowledge presents an interesting science fair project idea for advanced students. Information regarding increasing the length of hair may not only win you the local science fair, it could attract the attention of research scientists who are eager for more data on the subject of hair growth. What an opportunity! This project idea is not for individuals short on time...only individuals short on hair. Haha...Actually, a person of any length hair can attempt a hair growth speed science project. You would want at least a month or so to run the project, giving the hair a long enough chance to respond.
The truth about "how to make your hair grow faster" is: Here at Science-Ideas.Com we don't know. We also don't know the best way to perform a hair growth project. We list an idea below, but we hope our readers can come up with some good ideas. We have never personally tested any of these methods, and they might not live up to FDA or government standards for studying growth effectiveness, but they may provide enough information to satisfy a local science fair.
Some Ideas:
- To test a food, supplement or vitamin's effectiveness:
1) Measure a person's hair length in one specific area of their head. You will need to make sure you measure the same hairs each time you take measurements, so try to find an easy area to return to. An area might be, right above the ear. Another area might be, the last row of hairs on the back of the head, right above the neck, near the center. Take a photo of the hairs you measure, so you can find them again. Measure at least 10 or 20 hairs. Do this on a few people. The more people who you measure the better. Record your results.
2) Wait a period of time, perhaps 2 weeks or a month, and then repeat the measurement as described in step 1 and exactly the same way you performed the measurements the first time.
3) Have each subject, except for one (the control), begin a regimin of taking a vitamin, or eating a certain food. Wait another 2 weeks or a month (use the same exact amount of time waited before the second measurement) and then measure again. Once more, make sure you measure the exact same hairs as measured the first two times.
4) Now analyze your data. If the hair growth in period two, after taking the vitamin or eating the specific food, is greater than the hair growth in period one, it could mean that the supplement was effective at increasing hair growth. You will need to check this on each individual. The control person (the one who didn't eat any special food or take any vitamins) will help you to see if the hair growth increase (if any happened) was from the supplement the other's were taking in, or whether it was from some other environmental source (perhaps a change in the season, etc.)
This is just one method we thought of testing "how to make your hair grow faster" as a science fair project. Obviously it will take some time and effort to make sure everything makes sense. You will want to document your results clearly to impress the judges. A lot of photographs, with measuring devices held up to the hairs being measured, will help in making your results clear and effective.
The judges know that many outside factors can affect the final results. Outside of an expensive laboratory it is very challenging to properly measure hair growth. With that in mind, just do your best to document your measurements clearly and the judges will definitely enjoy your project.
